John Abraham is hoping his latest release Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal will not go up in a puff of smoke like his last film No Smoking.
However no matter how the film does its already proving to be a big hit for the cause of Indian football.
John and the entire cast of the movie have decided to promote the film by promoting Indian football.
In fact the film's release next week coincides with the kick-off of the I-League, India's first professional football league.
"These guys have done a lot for football. We all watch a lot of cricket, maybe after this film football will become equally popular," said John.
Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal continues the trend of sports films in Bollywood after Chak De India.
The latest movie is the tale of Southall United, a low profile English football club. The club consists of Asians and problem is that racism prevents them from playing big competitions and doing well and even the Indian players are hoping that football plus Bollywood will be a winning combination.
"John is a great actor, and it's great that he is associating himself with Indian fooball," said Sunil Chettri, Member, Indian Football Team.
The fate of the movie will be known next week but one way or another it's already scored one important goal, that is of giving Indian football some much needed publicity. |
