Star support: Bollywood actor Koena Mitra with Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda in New Delhi on Thursday to make an appeal to the NRI community.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda and Bollywood actor Koena Mitra appealed to the non-resident Indian community on Thursday to invest in the mineral-rich tribal State.
Sharing his dream of making Jharkhand an ideal destination for overseas Indians at a function in the Capital organised by Pravasi Today, Mr. Koda said the NRI community should invest in his State because of its huge potential in a wide range of areas including minerals, tourism, industries, forestry and rural infrastructure.
“Our Government has made several policy announcements in recent times for attracting investors in several sectors. These policies have been framed to accelerate industrial development in the State. We have also envisaged a set of incentives and schemes for investors. We aim to create the right kind of business climate by removing roadblocks and thereby enhancing the inflow of capital to the State,” he added.
The Jharkhand Chief Minister said the past year had seen several new strides in the investment sector in his State: “The better law and order situation has added to the solace of investors. Moreover, Jharkhand’s climate is quite similar to the southern city of Bangalore that is a hub of software companies. So I think the proprietors of software companies can set up plants there.”
Describing Koena Mitra as a daughter of the East, Mr. Koda appreciated her gesture of extending support to brand Jharkhand.
“As I am a daughter of the East I want to invite all NRIs and people of Indian origin to visit Jharkhand and enjoy the flora, fauna, weather and culture of the tribal State. Jharkhand as a potentially rich State deserves a well-knit integration of the NRI community,” Koena appealed.
